Adai Suriñach

Adai Surinach is trained in Fine Arts with specializations in engraving and printmaking techniques at the Escola Llotja in Barcelona. Later he went on to specialize in 3D printing and electronic hardware design. He has been part of the Smart Citizen project since 2023 and is an instructor on the FabAcademy program at Fab Lab Barcelona. He also collaborates on artistic projects with various brands and designers.

Óscar González

Óscar González is an Industrial Engineer and researcher based in Barcelona with expertise in data science, sensor development, and calibration through his experience in the automotive sector and in the Smart Citizen project. Óscar works as a multidisciplinary researcher on various projects, spanning the development and implementation of open source technologies and low-cost sensors, including their application in citizen science initiatives, as tools for environmental and health assessment, and the interoperability of data across research infrastructures. Óscar is co-founder of Sensical SCCL. He is also a creative engineer and technical director at Iron Skulls Co, contemporary dance company based in Barcelona, working in the field of applied robotics, interaction and stage design in dance performances.

Rebecca Anne Peters

Rebecca Anne Peters is a researcher and artist originally from the United States. In 2021 she received her doctorate in Humanities from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona with a thesis on technology’s role within collective cultural narratives. She completed a master’s degree in Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck, University of London (2014) as well as a master’s degree in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London (2013). Her academic background combines cultural studies, psychology, art, and technology, which gives her a unique interdisciplinary perspective about open source principles and alternative models as well as their impact on technology and society.

Tim Cowlishaw

Tim is an interaction designer and researcher with 20 years of experience designing and developing products, services, and experiences for the web and digital media, 9 of which he has spent as a specialist in R&D and prototyping, including 3 years in the BBC’s R&D department in London. He holds a bachelor’s degree in moving image design, and a master’s degree in computer science, and is currently a PhD candidate in the DARTS (Design, Arts and Technoscience) group at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), where he is researching the environmental impact of digital media.
